Need some extras that are not included in the Fleabit Packages or just want to create one of your own? Sitting fees, photography rates and image selection prices are explained below, as well as our custom services from creative image processing to print design and layout.

Photography Rates
These rates cover the actual time spent shooting photographs, not travel, setup or breakdown time (covered by sitting fee). Base price includes an assortment of candid shots, which are casual, unposed “documentary-style” photos of your pet just being itself (sitting in a favorite chair, chasing stuff, playing with toys, sleeping, whatever). Some pets are more camera-shy than others, so the time required to get a suitable number of quality shots may vary. These are generally shot with various lenses and a mix of natural lighting and hand-held flash (off-camera lighting yields much more interesting photos). If interested in more traditional studio-style portraits (using multiple lights, umbrellas, soft-boxes and backgrounds) portrait lighting setups are available for $50 each – please make request before the day of the shoot, as additional equipment and materials are required.

Photograph Selections
After the shoot, a personalized online photo gallery will be created for you to view all the shots that were taken. From these, you will choose your favorites, which will then be “fixed up” and prepared for printing – includes digital retouching, color-correction, exposure and contrast balancing, cropping and sharpening. For an additional fee, creative special effects can be added to your selections (see details below). Your edited selections will be provided to you on CD or DVD in 2 sizes: small for web or email and full-size for printing. Price includes unlimited usage rights, so you can make additional prints on your own in the future. If you would prefer to handle the processing, photo editing and printing yourself, the entire set of unedited photos from the shoot can be purchased in raw format for $250.

Creative Image Processing
Creative image processing options include color treatments (black & whites, duotones, selective colors) and artistic treatments (serigraphs, paintings, watercolors). Our black & white photos are individually converted based on each image’s unique tonal range using color channel curve manipulation, not simply by desaturing colors or switching to grayscale, which makes flat, lifeless images. Our classic duotones are created using a similar method, adding a subtle color tint to the image (like old sepia-tone photos). Artistic treatements are manipulations that alter the image to resemble paintings, watercolors, drawings and serigraphs (think pop art) – if there’s something you’ve seen and like – it can be done. Selective image editing involves isolating part of the image (your pet) and using a different treatment on the rest, such as black & white, soft focus, or replacing with a completely different background.
